- Second chance – education of adults
Country: Ireland “Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme” is a constant support and individual approach to long-term unemployed persons as a result of insufficient education. The Scheme succeeded in its pilot edition. Now, it is implemented throughout Ireland. ( download a file .pdf)
- Recreating Constructing
Country: England A new campaign – Women Building London – overcomes barriers which women have so far encountered at building and repair sites. It will allow 1400 women gain skills and experience in such crafts as plumbing, carpentry, painting and repair of rooms. ( download a file .pdf)
- The Navarra Region – Training for Business
Country: Spain There are certain skills which are elementary in almost every workplace – ability to communicate, quality management, computer legibility. Those key issues are quite often missing in companies’ training plans. - Professional support of the disabled
Country: Spain Providing the disabled with an opportunity to participate fully in the social and economic life is one of the priorities of the regional policy in the region of Murcia in Spain. - Job rotation as an opportunity for professional career of the employees of local authorities
Country: Sweden An innovative job rotation programme, implemented in Halland in Sweden, provides opportunities for professional development to existing employees and creates temporary workplaces for the unemployed. ( download a file .pdf)
- Return to employment of long-term unemployed persons
Country: Sweden Individual career plans and professional counselling helped 75 persons return to the labour market after a long period of unemployment or sickness. A project under a simple name “work” opens new perspectives in a region of Sweden known for a high unemployment. Nordanstig is one of the least densely populated communes of Sweden. In this region, where unemployment is high and population decreases, large distances between groups of people are an additional difficulty in job finding. ( download a file .pdf)
- Old and new approach to fighting unemployment – co-operation
Country: Finland Traditional methods of directing the unemployed back to the labour market have not always been successful, both in the case of the long-term unemployed and persons already starting to look for a job.
